These are the attractions which the carefully restored Rheinstein Castle has to offer:
- precious stained glass windows from the 14th-19th
century - impressive wall and ceiling frescos with artistic
illusionary paintings - anitque furniture dating back to the 17th-19th
century - knights' armour and weaponry from the
15th century - a neo-Gothic castle chapel and the only Prussian
tomb upon the Middle Rhine - an authentic catapult (replica of the 15th century)
- a large canon (replica of the 17th century)
- romantic gardens and terraces with a fabulous view over the Middle Rhine Valley
Your Own Exploration Tour
Explore the whole castle on your own. The signposted walk takes approx. 45min. and if you wish, you could also purchase a castle guidebook in various languages in the castle museum shop for 3,00€.
Please note that groups and school classes are only permitted inside the museum for 60mins.

THE CASTLE MUSEUM SHOP - WITH HEART AND SOUL
In our attractive castle museum shop you cannot only find refreshments and snacks, but also lovely gift ideas.
Look forward to toys and childrens' books covering the theme "Castles and Knights", medieval weapons and clothes, calligraphy-sets, romantic postcards, the legendary castle wine as well as champagne and many other beautiful things for children and adults!
For our young visitors we also offer a castle guidebook for children - Flo, the bat and Pinot, our cat of the castle, take you on an exciting and informative journey through the castle.
The Castle's History
The history of the castle dates back to the 13th century, when it was used as a toll castle. In the 17th century, the castle fell apart and turned into a ruin. In 1823, Prince Friedrich Wilhelm of Prussia purchased the ruin and had it rebuilt in the style of the 19th century Romanticism. Due to constant succession, the castle remained in property of the Hohenzollern Family until 1975. On 7 November 1975, the Hecher Family bought Rheinstein Castle – since then, the castle is owned by our family and our whole passion!
